MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION: Bachelor’s Degree required in the area of Student Services, Counseling, Business Administration or related field. POSITION DUTIES: Monitor and complete documents required by the Regional and State Veterans Office for enrollment certification of V.A. students. Counsel students and parents who request information about the various financial aid programs and veterans’ educational benefits. Verify and validate student application information for the Federal Pell Grant and other student financial aid programs. Performs other duties as assigned by the Financial Aid Director.

GENERAL SUMMARY: The Director of Financial Aid will manage, coordinate and supervise the administration of federal, state, and institutional financial aid funds. Financial Aid Office Administrative Assistant

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION: The Financial Aid Office Administrative Assistant, under the supervision of the Director of Financial Aid and the Vice President of Student Development, is primarily responsible for providing clerical support to the Financial Aid Office.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES OF THE POSITION:
  • Provide typing, filing, word processing, computer data entry, and other clerical support to the Financial Aid Office.
  • Respond to requests for information from Financial Aid Office customers including students, prospective students, faculty and staff.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must possess above average skills in keyboarding, filing, and computer operation. Computer experience and proficiency to include Microsoft Office products. Successfully complete RCC administered secretarial test. Demonstrated keyboarding skills consisting of a minimum of 45 words per minute after error adjustment as well as knowledge of filing rules. Must demonstrate good communications skills and deal effectively with RCC staff and the general public.

POSITION SUMMARY: Develop, negotiate and finalize student financial plans consistent with financial planning policies and procedures and with Federal/State regulations for awarding aid. Work closely with new, continuing and re-entry students and their families to ensure the plan and re-plan continue to best meet the families’ needs. Counsel students on all acceptances and other matters related directly to the student financial plan.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Work cohesively with ADA’s or Admissions Coordinators in order to facilitate outstanding service to prospective students and their parents.
  2. Maintain 100% Planning Load. Create Plans and explain the Plan and the student’s/parent’s rights and responsibilities for each aid source. Negotiate Payment Plans. Able to develop Student Financial Plans in concert with Institute procedures and knowledge of Federal regulations.
  3. Assist students/parents with the completion of the FAFSA. Enter the FAFSA electronically and review the resulting ISIR.
  4. Assign the appropriate budget to a student and package the student (award their aid).
  5. Ensure that aid is paid to students’ accounts in a timely manner.
  6. Responsible for complete and accurate files and paperwork.
  7. Certify loan applications.
  8. Complete Basic Verification/QA and C Code Requirements.
  9. Utilize reports as appropriate to job duties.
  10. Strong Customer Service Component as described in the Planner Productivity Report.
  11. Demonstrate proficiency in timely collections: -80% aid paid consistently by end of 5th week of term and 90% by end of 8th week of term.
  12. Maintain consistently clean files shown through Training Assessments for Compliance with Federal/State regulations, school policies and procedures. -Less than a 10% comment rate per term and less than a 5% potential liability rate for the year.
  13. Complete the appropriate training modules within 30 days of the new or revised module becoming available.
  14. Assist with or perform special projects as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Previous experience working with and technical knowledge of student financial aid or other commercial loans preferred.
  • High comfort level within a computerized environment.
  • Ability to make small group presentations as well as skill in interacting on a one on one basis.

The primary job responsibility is to maintain strong relationships with North Carolina colleges and universities within the assigned area of the State and to provide information and service related to CFI loan, grant and installment payment plan programs. In addition, the CFNC regional representative will work with elementary – high schools and community organizations within the territory to encourage college access.
